The Shipowners' Club announces new appointments

We are pleased to announce the following appointments to take effect from the advent of the new policy year on 20th February 2012:

Steve Randall to be Commercial Director - Asia on the board of Shipowners' Asia Pte Ltd, which manages the Singapore branch of the Club
Steve's appointment will mirror Simon Swallow's as Commercial Director on the board of The Shipowners' Protection Limited (SPL) with whom he will closely collaborate.  Steve will have specific responsibility for leading the development of the Club's business in the Asia-Pacific region.  Steve will retain his responsibilities as co-manager with David Heaselden of the Singapore branch.

Ian Edwards to be Underwriting Director on the SPL board
Ian will take over from Simon Swallow the leadership of the technical underwriting operation of the Club, setting and overseeing the implementation of the Club's underwriting and pricing policies in collaboration with branch managers.   Ian will retain his responsibilities as co-manager with Britt Pickering of the London branch.

Britt Pickering to be Claims Director on the SPL board
Britt will cement her previous position as global Head of Claims with this board appointment.  She will retain her responsibilities as co-manager with Ian Edwards of the London branch.

Jeremy Slater to be Underwriting Manager - Singapore branch
In recognition of the growing business underwritten through the Singapore branch, and the need to develop the management support of it, Jeremy is promoted to Underwriting Manager - Singapore branch.  Reporting to Steve Randall, he will take on from him some of the underwriting management responsibilities which Steve has had until now.

Paul Smit to be Deputy Claims Manager - Singapore branch
With growing business there is also a need to enhance the claims service and ensure that the speed and quality of our claims handling is ever more responsive.  Paul will take up this role in May/June once he has been able to move himself and his family from the UK to Singapore.  He will provide management support to Mike Hammond as well as handling claims himself.

Rob Cook to be Syndicate Claims Manager - UK and Rest of the World syndicate, London branch
Rob is promoted in succession to Paul Smit and will take on these responsibilities from Paul once he leaves for Singapore.

Following the continuing growth of the Club and  a successful renewal, these appointments recognise the significant contribution of those concerned to the leadership of the Club into the future.
