Searching Ships Database
There are many ways you can search the Ships database. Please select one or any combination of the above fields to help you narrow down the search of the database.
The search can be used using wildcards.
The wildcards used are % and _ (percentage sign and underscore). The % matches zero or more characters. Please see examples of use below:
%fish will bring back anything with fish at the end i.e. "Blackfish, Devilfish"
%fish% will bring back anything with fish in the middle i.e. "Atlantic Kingfisher, Cape Fish 1"
fish% will bring back anything with fish at the beginning i.e. "Fish Eagle, Fisher Bank"
The _ underscore sign can be used for a single character so for example
li_e% will bring back anything with "li" then any other character and then "e" and the % then allows anything after that so the results may be
Libeche
Lifetimer
Close Matches
The search will also give you close matches if it cannot find the exact search you are looking for. So for example, if you are searching for a vessel which you believe to be called "Albatros 2" the database will return anything similar and will show amongst other results, the correct result of "Albatros II".
