Coronavirus (COVID-19): Advice and guidance

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic.

The virus was first detected in Wuhan, China in December 2019 but has since spread to almost all continents, affecting over 200 countries.

As the number of cases continues to rise, governments and industry bodies have implemented restrictions and regulations to reduce the transmission of the virus. These measures are crucial for the health of the population, but have brought about exceptionally challenging operating conditions for the shipping industry.

To assist Members in navigating these unprecedented times, the Club has issued several advisories which we hope will be of assistance:

Following government instruction, the London and Singapore branches of the Club have temporarily closed with all staff working remotely. Our focus will remain towards offering the highest service levels and single to promptly settle and pay claims to ensure that Members’ cash flow is supported during these most challenging times.

The Club’s main switch boards will continue to receive calls, and these will be diverted as appropriate to staff working remotely. You should not notice any difference in service levels. Our Luxembourg, Hong Kong and Greek offices will operate in a similar way, albeit some offices will remain open but at all times colleagues are contactable through email and mobiles. This will extend to our emergency claims service which remains functional 24 hours a day.
