A guide to laws and regulations governing offshore shipping operations

The offshore industry is varied and often challenging with operators facing a unique and complex range of liabilities. The Club is familiar with the risks inherent in the offshore supply and support sector and insure over 4,500 vessels operating in the industry, a greater number than any other P&I insurer. As such, the Club is uniquely placed to provide guidance to offshore Members as to the many regulatory changes taking place in the territories in which they operate.

The Club has sought to establish a broad overview of common issues arising from the laws and regulations which govern offshore shipping operations. To this end, the Club has prepared new guide for Club Members with the assistance of Thomas Cooper and CTRL Marine Solutions Ltd.

The guide has been written using information obtained from leading practitioners, features 17 jurisdictions across the globe and gives answers to key questions on a variety of legal topics such as limitation, court systems, time bars, industry standard contracts and freedom for parties to contractually limit liability.
