The Shipowners’ Club, the leading mutual P&I insurer in the smaller and specialist sector, is to hold a seminar on the topic of Autonomous Ships & the City.
The full day event, which will be held in conjunction with Maritime London, will identify and examine the increasing autonomy of vessels. Roger Adamson, Co-Founder and CEO of Futurenautics, will give the keynote speech and this will be followed by presentations, panel discussions and networking breaks.
Britt Pickering, Claims & Legal Director at the Shipowners’ Club comments: “We are incredibly proud of our close links with Maritime London and applaud the ground-breaking work they do in both safeguarding and progressing British shipping. We share their vision and ambition for the progression of innovation and technology in the industry and this is particularly evident in relation to the autonomous vessel sector. Together, we have devised a one-day seminar, which aims to challenge some of the myths surrounding autonomous vessels and which facilitates networking between the insurance sector, industry, regulators and academia. We will also provide some detail of our ’new’ all risk autonomous vessel policy, which we have developed alongside our industry partners, to meet the particular needs of this sector.”
The discussion will focus on:
- Timescale: When will autonomous vessels be mainstream?
- Regulatory and Legal: Changes required?
- Risk: A new set of risks.
- Insurance challenges: A new Autonomous vessel policy from Shipowners’ Club.
A recording will be available after the event.
