The claims response service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and provides immediate global assistance to all of our Members.

Calling the emergency contact number provides a quick and effective way to speak directly to a duty Shipowners’ claims handler in the event of an incident or casualty involving an entered vessel.

During office hours the emergency number will redirect to the relevant corresponding office switchboard.

Alternatively, Members can request assistance from our network of correspondents located around the world.


We work with more than 600 broking companies globally and insure some 35,000 small and specialist vessels across a range of operating sectors and geographical areas.

Our diverse Member base provides an excellent spread of risk and low exposure to individual catastrophe, delivering stability that allows us to boast a strong balance sheet and A rated financial security from Standard & Poor’s.

Since 1855 we have provided comprehensive and flexible P&I insurance to the owners and operators of vessels. Key to this are the close relationships and open dialogue we enjoy with our brokers. We welcome input into the continual improvement of our products and have introduced a range of clear and simple insurance wordings that meet the needs of the less traditional P&I market.

As one of the oldest P&I clubs, we understand what vessel owners need most from their liability insurance – stable premiums, adaptable cover and a swift, sympathetic response to claims.
