Global Health Risks: Latest information and updates
In recent years, global health crisis’ such as the Coronavirus disease (COVID-19) pandemic have impacted the safety of seafarers and has made maritime operations more challenging.
Advice
We advise all Members to keep up-to-date with the advice published by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Both organisations are experts in this field and guide the Club.
The Club has also created a Health and Wellbeing resource page to assist Seafarers with finding advice on how to maintain positive health.
Members should be aware that in addition to the precautions required in known high risk areas, further restrictions and health checks may be imposed by port authorities of countries Members subsequently visit.
We recommend that Members keep in contact with our Correspondents in the area for the most up-to-date information regarding outbreaks, including any new restrictions or procedures that may be imposed in the local vicinity.
In addition, the 12 member P&I Clubs of the International Group have launched an online digital tool (dashboard) to assist shipowners, charterers, operators and other parties in the maritime sector to track country and port specific advice, detailing the measures being put in place in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
