Calling the emergency contact number provides a quick and effective way to speak directly to a duty Shipowners’ claims handler in the event of an incident or casualty involving an entered vessel.

During office hours the emergency number will redirect to the relevant corresponding office switchboard.

Alternatively, Members can request assistance from our network of correspondents located around the world.

As part of the Club’s ongoing commitment to its Members to offer high-quality service and to seek to ensure peace of mind, we are proud to launch the enhanced Legal Advice Benefit.

What is the Legal Advice Benefit?

Due to the highly technical expertise required, the cost of legal services dealing with the intricacies of shipping and international trade can often spiral rapidly and even small matters can incur significant cost.

We understand the importance to Members of being able to quickly access specialist cost effective legal advice and guidance. The Legal Advice Benefit provides initial legal advice free of charge ensuring fast access to specialist assistance on covered and non-covered claims, disputes or proceedings as well as non-contentious shipping work (such as ship finance, ship sale and purchase or shipbuilding contracts etc).

This benefit is applicable to all Members having an entry or entries with the Club, as owners or charterers[1].

How and when can Members access the Legal Advice Benefit?

Members are requested to notify the Club of all new P&I and Legal Costs Cover (LCC) matters in the usual way. For these matters the Legal Advice Benefit will work to reduce costs but in all other respects will not impact usual claims handling. For non-covered matters, Members are encouraged to contact the Club in order to access further information about this benefit.

[1] Members with a CTRL Benefit Clause in their certificates of insurance should note that this will be superseded by the new and enhanced Legal Advice Benefit, with immediate effect.​​​​
