Bimco’s Supplytime charterparty form has been in use since 1975 to provide a time charter specifically tailored to supply vessel owners.
Over the years the form has been improved, developed a knock-for-knock regime and reflected changes in industry practice. As a Club with a large offshore Membership we frequently see Members contract on one of the three versions of the form currently in use. One of the most frequent queries that arises is whether the form in use on any given occasion covers the property of a particular entity, given their status in the contractual relationships.
In order to assist Members with these questions, the Club has produced an interactive Supplytime Indemnity Map, which aims to provide an at-a-glance view of the various forms’ knock-for-knock regimes, looking at the indemnities available to a ship owner from a charterer. Please note that, in places, important additional information is included in the footnotes to the right. The diagram is not intended as legal advice and Members should continue to seek counsel from their Club or legal advisors as appropriate when drafting charterparties or dealing with disputes under them. There may be alternative opinions as to the scope of some indemnity clauses.
