Calling the emergency contact number provides a quick and effective way to speak directly to a duty Shipowners’ claims handler in the event of an incident or casualty involving an entered vessel.

During office hours the emergency number will redirect to the relevant corresponding office switchboard.

We are now seeking a Business Relations & Medisea Executive to join us on a permanent basis. Medical Enhancement Scheme for Seafarers (Medisea) is the Club’s enhanced medical screening programme for seafarers, designed to detect health issues early and support both physical and mental wellbeing. The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and a quick learner with a desire to develop in a friendly and supportive insurance company. Overall responsibility of the Role:

Primarily responsible for the effective and efficient daily management and application of the Medisea scheme as well as assist with the running of the business relations function of the region.

 

Primary Responsibilities of Role

  • To primarily manage the Medisea scheme as well as its associated daily operation.
  • To plan the strategic and rollout of Medisea as well as increase the Club’s brand visibility in both new and existing regions.
  • To assist the Head of Medisea and Industry Relations with the planning, execution, and management of the business relations function with regards to Brokers, Member and industry engagement in conjunction with the Underwriting team.
  • To liaise with external stakeholders (Brokers, Members etc) for Member engagement and Medisea queries. Similarly, to also liaise with the third-party Medisea scheme administrators and the Clinics as required.
  • To prepare and/or deliver presentations as required to external stakeholders and internal departments regarding Member/Seafarer wellbeing initiatives, strategic progress of the Medisea scheme as well as other department/ Club initiatives as required.
  • To timely manage and oversee the Medisea scheme’s annual clinic audit and accreditation process in conjunction with the Medisea Liaison Officer and the third-party scheme administrator.
  • To actively provide support to our Underwriting and Claims department with regards to the rollout/ application of Medisea as well as implications on cover.
  • Monitor the progress of the Medisea scheme and produce statistical reports on various heads of claims by undertaking causation reviews as required by the Regional Head including for the quarterly business and annual reviews.
  • To prepare and monitor annual departmental budgets and business plans in liaison with the Head of Medisea and Industry Relations.
  • To liaise with our Marketing department as required for the Business Relations / Medisea functions as well as producing periodical newsletters for dissemination via our various social media channels.
  • To provide oversight and feedback to our business transformation and IT departments for the development and upkeep of the Medisea app/software/ portal.
  • To plan and execute departmental and Club initiatives as required.

 

Experience Required:

  • A strong background in shipping with preferably at least 5 years of related working experience in shipping.
  • Degree/Diploma in shipping related or equivalent relevant fields.
  • Crewing/Insurance background would be advantageous however not a pre-requisite.
  • Ability to produce high quality PowerPoint presentations and be able to confidently deliver presentations.
