Liability insurance for specialist and offshore support vessels

The Shipowners’ Club has underwritten offshore business for over half a century and was one of the first clubs to provide a dedicated resource for offshore business. The Club has always remained at the forefront of developing insurance solutions for the unique and complex challenges that the sector faces. In supporting our Member’s operations, the Club has accrued many years of experience which enhances our understanding of our Members’ needs.

We offer a comprehensive insurance solution to the offshore energy, construction and wind farm sectors through traditional Rules based P&I cover, giving access to the high limits of the International Group, often mandatory for offshore operators, and our tried and tested Specialist Offshore Packages, designed specifically with the offshore and construction sectors in mind. These are reviewed regularly to ensure that they continue to meet industry needs.

Our Members are involved in a wide range of activities which includes;

  • Construction and installation
  • Rig/platform supply
  • Offshore support
  • Anchor handling
  • Personnel transfer
  • Seismic survey
  • Dredging
  • Cable and pipe laying
  • ROV/UAV and submersible operations
  • Dive support
  • Well stimulation
  • Decommissioning
  • Towage
  • Heavylift operations
  • Offshore accommodation
  • Autonomous vessel operations
  • Salvage and clean up operations

Available as either a Core or Enhanced Package, our covers can be tailored to fit an operator’s requirements depending on the activities conducted and the contracts they have entered into, whether standard BIMCO forms or bespoke contracts for energy majors or specific projects. By offering broad cover for Contractual Liabilities and Specialist Operations on a combined single limit, we are able to provide comprehensive cover to high limits on an economical basis. Further information on the packages can be found in our Specialist Offshore Package Brochure. For accommodation units, where cover is required for liability to accommodees we can offer this either as a standalone extension, or on a Combined Single Limit basis for those units also requiring cover for specialist operations and contractual liabilities. In addition we can offer Construction All Risks (CAR) deductible buy down cover where our Members are required to accept liability for damage to contract works.
