Tanker
Liability insurance for tankers
Tankers represent a very important section of the membership for the Shipowners’ Club, especially in south east Asia and the Far East where we have built long-standing relationships with local owners, brokers and authorities. Given the high level of environmental scrutiny of the industries they often serve, operators develop an acute awareness of the risks they face.
It is not surprising that double hulls receive much attention and this is relevant also for the smaller, coastal tankers. We know that cargo contamination can be caused in many ways and that our tanker Members must maintain high standards when cleaning, re-stowing, discharging and maintaining their vessels. We know too, that operators must be vigilant to avoid collision risks, prevalent in bunkering activities. At this Club we are available to assist our Members and their brokers by way of best practice advice to minimise risk. We work closely to ensure that they have the most appropriate P&I and associated insurance in place for their specific operations.
Our Members operate a number of vessel types, including: asphalt tankers, bunker vessels, chemical tankers, fresh water and other product tankers, gas carriers and oil tankers.
